An Open Letter of thanks to the Farmers of the North Eastern Cape Highlands

Dear Editor,

I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to all the farm owners of the North Eastern Cape Highlands.

I have been a visiting fly fisherman to the region of Barkly East, Rhodes and the surrounds for a number of years now, I try my very best to take a week during Spring and Autumn to enjoy the wonderful streams and mountains the area has to offer.

I first visited the area at the insistence of Tom Sutcliffe, who at the time said there was nothing to compare, and indeed he was spot on, I always book water through the Wild Trout Association and for a reasonable fee get to enjoy peace and quiet and the most marvellous stream fishing I could imagine. In my busy hustle and bustle life as a big city dweller I rarely get to spend time in wide open spaces with no one around for miles, it gives me an opportunity to spend time with my son and catch and release a few wild trout while enjoying the beautiful scenery.

We have the best time and see and enjoy so many unique experiences and it is all thanks to the Wild Trout Association and the farmers that so graciously allow us to access their waters, I would be lost without it and wanted all involved to know just how valuable it is to all fly fishermen as a whole.

And so I would really appreciate it if you would be so kind as to publish my letter and allow me to personally thank the Wild Trout Association and all the participating farm owners for allowing us the very special and valuable experience and privilege of fishing on their streams and accessing their farms.

My Very Best Wishes to you all.

With Warmest Regards
